GCIR envisions a society in which everyone thrives no matter where they born. Through our work with foundations across the country, we seek to mobilize philanthropic resources to promote the protection, wellbeing, and inclusion of immigrant and refugee communities by liberating philanthropic capital, amplifying the leadership of immigrants and refugees, addressing the conditions driving displacement, and supporting a robust immigrant and power-building ecosystem. We recognize the tremendous work being done by movement organizations every day to advance policy reforms at the local, state, and federal levels, and our 2024 policy agenda echoes these priorities.
The Transnational Migration Community of Practice (CoP) is a new learning space for funders to engage with migrant power-building and organizing efforts that extend beyond international borders.
Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR) is a national network of funders who seek to leverage their grantmaking to expand opportunities for and address challenges facing immigrants, refugees, and their communities.
The California Dignity for Families Fund is guided by an advisory committee with deep movement, community, government and philanthropic experience. This team has been charged with setting the Fund’s grantmaking strategy as well as selecting the partner organizations to receive grants.
