Looking Past the Headlines: Unseen Needs at the Border

While media attention in recent years has brought into public consciousness several issues related to the southern border, including the family separation policy, the deaths of migrants within US custody, and the impacts of the Remain in Mexico policy (Migrant Protection Protocol), several other issues have not received a similar level of exposure, including the experience of Afro-Caribbean asylum seekers at the border, and the impact of secondary trauma among the front-line lawyers, social service workers, and advocates directly engaging with migrant communities.
