Oakland Ed Fund's COVID-19 Rapid Relief Fund: Bridges Academy

Tuesday, April 21, 2020

The stimulus legislation will not extend a helping hand to hard-working immigrant families who do not qualify for federal assistance, even in the midst of a pandemic. If you have reliable income and can afford it, your pledge and eventual donation will be directed to Bridges Academy, an Oakland public school, that serves a largely immigrant population where 80% of students are English language learners. If this works, we plan to replicate this program for other schools in Oakland, as well as districts throughout the country.

Donations will go to the Oakland Ed Fund's Covid-19 Rapid Relief Fund, earmarked for Bridges, and will be distributed directly to Bridges' families through check or electronic transfer, using an equity formula to identify families most in need.
